Community 'Red Box Project' provides free sanitary products for girls in schools

The Red Box Project is a not-for-profit initiative, aiming to support young people throughout their periods by providing red boxes filled with free period products to local schools.
Red Box filled with sanitary products

How can it be that about 1 in 10 women and girls in the UK can't afford to buy menstrual products?

In London alone, a recent survey found that 17% of 16-24 year-olds said they had "struggled to afford sanitary wear" or "been unable to afford sanitary wear" at some point.

Why are these statistics so significant?

Not being able to afford to buy menstrual products/sanitary wear is preventing girls from going to school when they have their period. This is known as 'period poverty'.

If a girl skips school every time she has her period, she's missing out on an education that will help to develop her confidence and potential to succeed in her life.
