New Southwark Family Council and Parent to Parent Peer Advocacy

Southwark Children’s Services is looking for parents and families to join the new Family Council and become peer advocates to support other parents.

The Family Council will bring together parents, carers and family members to give their views on children’s services in Southwark. The Family Council will meet regularly to discuss how professionals and families can work together, the support that families need and how to improve services.

Parent to Parent Peer Advocacy is a new approach for parents with experience of children’s services to use their knowledge to support other parents and carers. Parent advocates will receive training to support parents at the Child Protection Conference and other meetings and help them to express their views, understand their rights, and explore their choices and options.
