Get funding to arrange one off meetings to discuss specific local issues

Southwark Council's Democracy Fund is part of the new Empowering Communities Programme for Southwark where local people can apply to arrange one off meetings to discuss specific local issues.
Fingers holding leaves

It allows communities to hold their own events and to increase opportunities for raising and addressing issues of local concern.

The funding is for resident-led meetings with no attendance or involvement from council officers.

What does the Democracy Fund cover?

Venue hire, equipment hire, publicity and invitations, refreshments, etc.

How much is available?

A total pot of £10,000 is available for each round, to be shared between multiple groups across the borough.

Closing date for applications

Deadline is February 3rd 2020. Events should take place before 31 May 2020.

How are decisions made?

Decisions for applications will be recommended by a panel of Community Champions (councillors). The results of the decisions will be published on Southwark Council’s Empowering Communities webpage and all applicants will be notified of the outcome.
